Water Lilies (Monet)
This painting is part of the series “Water Lilies” created by Claude #Monet in his enchanting garden in Giverny, not far from Paris.
Right there, in what was his last home, the painter was able to give life to the #dream of setting up a small river basin by decorating it with many floating plant and floral species.
☞ Do you know…
‣ Monet was constantly inspired by the play of lights and colors that were created through the #reflection on the water and he painted 250 works all with the same subject, his loved water lilies. This worried critics a lot as the value of the works would be questioned by their separation due to different exhibition destinations such as private collections and museums. It was for this reason that Claude decided to paint 12 huge canvases, at least 4 meters long each, to represent the entire work
‣ The success of these paintings was also due to the style that Monet, almost unconsciously, applied to his painting or a natural overcoming of the pure #impressionism linked to previous years and a spontaneous impetus towards abstract art
