Unique forms of continuity in space
A good start to the week with the sculpture that more than any other represents #movement and fluidity.
“Unique forms of continuity in space” is one of the masterpieces of Umberto Boccioni and of Futurism.
☞ Do you know…
‣ in the “futurist style” the intention was to represent the #advance of Modern Industry.
In fact, in this #masterpiece the subject is a man, deprived of the contours and the definition of the body, which moves forward simulating the stride of a step.
The ability to render the #idea of the act that the subject is doing is perfectly rendered thanks to a #game of fullness and emptiness, of light and shadow but also of pronounced muscles despite the missing limbs.
‣ the #original work is in plaster and none of the more well known #bronze copies was made until the author was alive. Currently there are seven versions in the world, all with the same priceless #artistic value.
