The Ballet Class (Degas)
“THE BALLET CLASS”
☞ Do you know…
‣ The main skill of the author here, lies in the ability to make the image so immediate to almost look a photograph… The #dancers allow themselves a moment of relaxation, each in their own way, probably towards the end of the lesson. The teacher is a famous #choreographer of the time and the hall is precisely that of the Paris Opera. All very realistic despite the painting was entirely made, after careful and long study, inside the painter’s studio.
‣ The centerpiece of the scene is undoubtedly the master in the center, leaning on that stick highlighted by our red, around which lines and volumes are expertly developed as well as lights and colors. The #perspective, of which the floor is the protagonist, is a distinctive element in Degas’ #painting that contrary to his contemporaries he is faithful to traditional techniques.
