One of the most famous examples of “on the water” architecture is the Sydney Opera House, Australia. Commonly known with the name “the sails” for the shape that deliberately recalls that of sailing boats

The majestic building is now a universal icon as well as the symbol of the city and the country on which it stands. Since 2007 it is also UNESCO World Heritage Site

Inside, the #building designed by the Danish architect Jørn Utzon, houses a 1.530-seat auditorium which was inaugurated by Queen Elizabeth II in 1973. For the great occasion, also broadcast on TV, the orchestra performed the Ninth Symphony of Beethoven

The largest room however is another, in fact defined as “concert” with its 2.700 seats it is acoustically more suitable for the diffusion of sound.
