Manneken Pis
Manneken-Pis means “peeing boy” in the language of the city of which it’s a symbol: Brussels
No more than half a meter high, this small statue that pours water from the top of a #fountain, it’s located in the historic center and it’s one of the main local tourist attractions.

‣ The Manneken was originally in stone around 1300 but, following the theft of the first version, Jérôme #Duquesnoy the Elder made this bronze copy in the early 1600s. Various legends circulate about the choice of the subject but what has always represented is the independence and military courage of the Belgians, as well as their sense of #humor
‣ An ancient #tradition has it that “friends of Manneken” on the occasion of festivities, special occasions or moments of the year dress it to theme.
This ritual is now very felt by the citizens and the little “boy” is provided with almost 800 ceremonial costumes and #clothes mostly related to a profession
