Dance (Matisse)
“Dance” by Henri #Matisse is one of the most representative masterpieces of the artist.
☞ Do you know…
‣ There are two versions of this wonderful #painting both made by the same author at a distance of only one year from each other. The first, today considered preparatory to the second, is kept at the #MoMA in New York, while the next work is exhibited at the Saint Petersburg Hermitage because at the time it was commissioned to Matisse by a Russian patron
‣ The artist’s #goal was that the viewer could find some peace by admiring his works. This explains the maximum synthesis of the elements: a bright background color to remember the #sky of a season characterized by bright colors such as summer; the “floor” – shown here by our iconic red – which in the original version is green to recall #nature and finally the bodies that perfectly represent the sense of #rhythm
